Photo Workshop on Indonesia's Ambon Island with Don Silcock

We have arranged a special photo workshop at the new Maluku Divers Resort in Ambon which will be free of charge to the first six people who sign up for the trip at our regular rates. Ambon is one of Indonesia's best dive spots, and along with Lembeh one of the greatest muck diving locations on the planet. A place of unique discoveries, new species are frequently described for the first time in Ambon, with the most famous being the 'Psychedelic' Frogfish (Histiophryne Psychedelica). It is also a hotspot for the elusive Rhinopias Scorpionfish, with Maluku Divers naming one of their dive sites 'Rhinopias City'. During this unique week you will get hands-on tuition and daily feedback from Don Silcock whilst diving sites such as the Twilight Zone, which Don describes as the one of the best muck/critter sites in Indonesia. In addition to the amazing critter dives, Ambon is also blessed with the beautiful Hukurila Caves and the Ambon Shipwreck, both of which are perfect places to home your photography skills.

Trip date: 11-18 December 2011, 5 spaces left

I would advise anyone interested in this trip to check the security situation first. FCO advice?

Just back from Ambon and there was sectarian civil unrest. The army was flooding the town with check points and sand bagged machine gun posts at major cross roads. Armoured cars APC's etc on the streets.

Jakarta post reports 8 dead and 150-200 homes burned out.
