OK so WL used to own a HUB and that’s pretty tough to beet. Howard (Dive Dude) is of course exempt from this thread as he only buys kit if it is really really embarrassing. He moaned the other day as he could only get an under suit in black. They were fresh out of shocking pink

Sooooooo my most embarrassing bit of kit was my entire rig when I first attempted twinning up. Hoses everywhere and one tank smaller than the other (one 12ltr one 11 ltr
)

Nice one Andy. You had the Avantgarde, the Roll Royce of HUBs. Mine was just the mere HUB.
But I can say that I wasn't that embarrassed owning one.
I wonder how many of the YDers have own a HUB? How many will admit to owning a HUB??
I can't think of anything that I have owned or own that is embarrassing

<font color='#000080'>A pair of shocking pink fins.  Bought them at the dive show for a fiver, with the mind to sell them to a trainee.  Still in the cupboard

I don't have any embarassing kit. I did have a dodgy contence gauge on a liveaboard once. It died mid week and no replacement was available. It would only work above 5m, obviously something to do with pressure. Fortunatly both I and my buddy had ponies with us so I was never realy in any danger, but it was fun coming up from 30m dives and guessing how much air I had left when the gauge would finaly register at around 5m.

Just before I get slated, it was easy diving, good buddy with similar breathing rate and I never came out the water with less than 40 bar. Honest

The first twinset in our club.  300bar 10s.  How proud I was until I got them filled, tried to lift them and turned my lower vertebrae to porridge.  Got rid after about 3 months and had a long & beautiful relationship with a pair of 232s.

hmm a greenforce umbilical 50W HID, and I haven't even wreck dived in the uk yet, slight overkill lol.  As soon as anyone tries to say anything to me ill have to cut in and say "second-hand bargain" before I get that 'pffft trying to be a flash git' look, ill also mention how they probably eat properly, whilst I however survive off small pizzas and tuna and mayonnaise sandwiches, hence the decent dive gear. Well food is expensive...
. Anyway all the essential vitimans and minerals can be found in a pint of bitter, or so I like to tell myself.  Its worked a treat though, and in good time for fattening up back home over Christmas!! hehe.

The "force" is truely strong within you. Use you light saber to practice while on deco stops. Those who taunt perish.

<font color='#000080'>I had a pair of truly awful and very expensive accelerating Force Fins - with wings. They didn't look quite as ridiculous as my wife's bright yellow force fin Pro's though.

Mark.

<font color='#000080'>Mark, i once heard that avatar pic referred to as a flaming fanny.  I have never been able to look at it in quite the same way again.

<font color='#000080'>erm - my drysuit!

extremely figure-hugging black neoprene - looks even more like S&M gear than most dive kit!

also, as it is so restrictive and the neck seal is so tight, getting in and out of it tends to draw hysterically laughing crowds. people have started charging an admission fee to watch me staggering around car-parks with my face tucked down in the drysuit and my ears slowly being pulled away from my head

oh, and a ridiculously expensive snorkel. although i never use it in this country, and it doesn't count as i'm actually quite proud of it

<font color='#000F22'>My old Drysuit was rather comical. A second hand Ex navy vulcanised membrane with hot water feed to boat etc. I looked like a gimp, all i needed was the zipped hood. It didn't help being 2 sizes too big.

<font color='#000080'>I don't really have an embarassing bit of kit. I tend to sell anything that's a problem, including my Glide 2000. I used to put twin 12s on it. That was beautiful. About 15kgs of lift for 232 12s. I sank like a rock, too, because I was so overweighted.

What else am I embarrased about? I seem to have bought my kit late enough in the game that I've not bought anything really silly. I did buy a set of regs once for £120 that were useless, but then again I did try and adjust them myself. Badly. I've got rid of the octo now and just have the 1st and second as a backup reg.

OK its not kit but I blamed my mask.

During a pootle round cape I got into a heated animated gesturing "discussion" with my buddy over which way to go next. After 5 mins my buddy tapped me on the shoulder (he was behind me) - I had been remonstrating with a complete stranger who was looking at me with that "who the f... are you" look.

Mr Magoo award 2004  (claimed my mask was wonky)

Mine is my dive knife - one of those combination knife/shears jobs that seemed like a really good idea at the time. unfortunately it is HUGE, takes up my entire calf.

My homemade torch. It's taken me about 8 months to make AND IT STILL LEAKS.

If I'd bought it, I'd have binned it (or sold it on ebay) and bought a new one, ages ago.

Hold on lads, I've got an idea.... Do you think it will sell???

Laters,
