Guys,

I am massively impressed at the response we've had to this trip! Nigh-on 40 divers!

Cheques have been flooding in along with peoples' boat/RIB/Day preferences. So what's the next step??

It is my intention to book the boats this week - we may need a 3rd boat, but we do have the option to get one, so we should be OK.

I'll be posting the state of the respective boats and RIB compliments very shortly, so please stand-by for a full read on how each boat/RIB's company is looking.

As always, any questions, please give me a call on TEL: 07764 - 174647.

Cheers,

So you can see how this trip is shaping up in terms of what's gonna be available regarding boat/RIB space. The sooner you get your cheques to me the sooner I can hold you place on your choice of day(s) on either RIB or hard-boat.

****  PLEASE REMEMBER THAT WHAT YOU BOOK WITH ME IS WHAT I BOOK WITH THE SKIPPERS - YOUR CHEQUE SECURES YOU A PLACE; SO THE SOONER I RECEIVE YOUR MONEY, THE SOONER WE'LL GET A COMPLETE TEAM AND BOAT/RIB LIST FOR THIS DIVE WEEKEND.  *****

Just so everyone remebers what their choices are for the various boat options:

1. Hard-boat (max 30 metres depth): £300 per day for the boat, assume a max of 10 divers per boat, 2 dives per day per diver, £30 per diver per day (Sat & Sun = £60 per diver)

2. Hard-boat (max 18 metres depth): £300 per day for the boat, assume a max of 10 divers per boat, 2 dives per day per diver, £30 per diver per day (Sat & Sun = £60 per diver)

3. RIB Diving: From direct from Trearddur Bay or 10 mins away in Holyhead. Max 8 divers per RIB journey (max 4 four RIB trips per day). £12 per diver per dive (two dives a day = £24 per diver).

4. Shore Diving (Trearddur Bay): there is no cost for this option other than the price of your air or mix fill - which you will pay directly to the dive centre.

There, hope that's clear. Once again, any question, please give me a shout on TEL: 07764 - 174647.

Thanks again in advance.

PS: Please all remember also that we're all staying, regardless of what boat/RIB you're on or what type of diving you're doing (for those that don't live in driving distance home at night) in Trearddur Bay Friday and Saturday nights - depending on when you arrive.

This gives us the opportunity to get together in the evenings and relive the day's events and have food, the odd light sherry(!) and top banter.

I'm soooooooooo much looking forard to this that my wife had to stop me running around naked in the snow last night! Well, when I say my wife, the Police actually stopped me and my wife had to vouchsafe that I'd behave myself from here on in.....

**** ACCOMMODATION UPDATE FOR THIS GIG ****

For those of you cheeky chappies (& chappesses) that may not have yet booked any accommodation, then the lesser-spotted Willo and myself are in the following gaff: own heated-pool, bar, sauna, site shop, launderette etc. I jest you not!

http://www.holiday-bungalows.co.uk/frames.htm

I'm in the Mon Cottage and Davey's in the Fron Isallt Cottage.

For bookings, and it's only a mile away from Mike's Diving Services Anglesey, but means that a number of us can be together in the same complex so we can all RV and travel in convoy to our respective ports of embarkation, and get tanks charged in the late PM, then contact Susan at:

TEL: 01407 - 860494

email: [email protected]

Get in amongst it people - you know it makes sense.

YD - on the march!

Hope this helps.

Hi Gang,

OK, just so we're all of the same level of expectation for this trip, the next posting here by me should detail things like:

* Air/gas fills, and where to get them on the island.

* Gas Management - the boats will not be coming back to the island between dives, so those with singles will be OK (assuming you've got two cylinders to take onto the boat); those with twins, it'll be down to gas management to accommodate both dives off your boat.

* Those using the RIB out of Trearddur Bay, you can hop off after your dive and get a fill at Mike's just up the beach.

* Information on the boats/RIBS: who'll be on which boat, Tide, RV and pick up/drop-off points etc.

* Sundries.

Expect another posting by the end of this wekk with more on the boats. Once again, any questions, please call me on TEL: 07764 - 174647.

****  PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOU READ ALL OF THIS POST AND AGREE WITH ME THAT YOU'VE GOT THE BOAT/RIB ETC. OF YOUR CHOICE. ANY DISCREPANCIES, PLEASE TELL ME IMMEDIATELY !!!***

Because this trip was very well subscibed, I've had to do a bit of 'juggling' with the boat numbers, but I think we've managed it to everyone's satisfaction.

So you can see the boat's in question, I've placed URL links below for you.

For Elfyn's Boat 'Julie-Anne, (out of Amlwch Harbour) see here:

http://mysite.freeserve.com/S.S.DAKOTA

For Scott's boat 'Voyager', (out of Menai Harbour) see here:

http://www.diveanglesey.co.uk/adtc/boatservices.htm

NB: The above RIB takes eight divers, but we still have to pay for a full RIB (£192), so I'm gonna ask Geoff Oldfield of Liverpool BSAC if he has any divers that can make up the numbers, or whether the YD divers can join his troop on their own RIBs.

Air/Mix FILLS:

Please all arrive with your cylinders charged with the air/mix of your choice. For those diving singles, please bring two if you're on a hard-boat, as the boat will NOT be returning to harbour between dives.

If you're diving the RIB, you can get a re-fill between dives at T-Bay. If you can't get two cylinders, then you can hire them from either Mike or Anglesey Diver Taining Centre:

http://www.diveanglesey.co.uk

Martin Sampson (TEL: 01407 - 764545) at the above URL has offered to stay open late on Saturday night to allow us to get fills!! His pricing is as follows:

* Air = £ 3.00 per single fill - £6.00 for twins
* Nitrox Mix = 1 Penny per Litre of O2 plus £2.50

To hire a 12l or 15l cylinder = £8.00 per day. Martin also has cylinders in all sizes (3L, 7L etc.) so please contact him DIRECTLY on the number above should you wish to hire an extra cylinder for use as back gas or stage bottle.

I shall be in contact with both Skippers mid-week to ascertain the long-range weather forecast which will dictate which wrecks/dive sites we'll be diving at the weekend, so please keep and eye on these boards to get an idea of RV times at the harbours etc. And don't forget your torches!

Please note that I have NOT included the Shore Diving aspects of this tour as any fills will be payble locally to either Mike's or Martin's shop. There should be a squad of you any way, what with Daz's 'Bristol Massive' turning up too. We can orientate ourselves either on the Friday or the Saturday night as where to get fills for you guys and to get an idea of where the sea-entry points are.

As always, anyone with any questions, please give me a shout on TEL: 07764 - 174647. Do not rely on my logging on to read either PMs or posts on here, please call me, that way you can be sure I've fielded your query.

Cheers,

*** PLEASE READ THIS FOR RV TIMES FOR YOUR VARIOUS DIVE GROUPS, BOATS & HARBOURS ***

For those diving off the Julie-Anne (Elfyn's boat - the 'Deep Boat'), we will be diving out of either Amlwch OR Holyhead, dependent on tonight's weather forecast; which at the moment is reading South-Westerlies for Saturday and Southerlies for Sunday, so we look to be in for good weather and fair conditions for the whole weekend.

Slack water will be at 11.30 hrs - meaning that we will have to be kitted up and good to go at either of the above harbours for 10.00 hrs - HAPPY DAYS !!!

The Skipper, Elfyn, will call me tomorrow and let me know which harbour it is going to be. The benefit to us if it is Holyhead is that it is only 10 minutes away from where we're staying in Trearddur Bay!
We will know well in advance of the dive on Saturday morning. And for those arriving on Friday, we can discuss travel/convoy arrangements to get to either harbour on Friday night over a sherry.

----------------------------------------------------------

Just spoken to the other Skipper - Scott - and the same RV times at Menai Bridge apply - 10.00 hrs.

Slack water here will be even later here, after midday, but your boat will have further to go.

For Trearddur Bay to Menai Bridge allow 20 to 25 mins drive time. Again, best to go in convoy. From T-Bay, take the main A5 out of T-Bay and come off at Menai Bridge. Scott has offered to meet your convoy here and guide you in if like - nice of him. His Mobile number is TEL: 07974 - 249005.

Again, please take EVERYTHING you will need for a day's diving out of either port or boat, as they will NOT be coming back to harbour (unless in an emergency - God forbid) until the day's diving is done.

We will all be meeting back in Trearddur Bay on Saturday evening to get fills for Sunday's dive and to hook-up for nose-bag and swallie.

As always, I am contactable for questions and I'll help where I can.

Bren's TEL: 07764 - 174647.

Err.....looking forward to this gig in major way now!!!!
