I am PSA Nitrox qualified and thought it would be an idea to use some Nitrox on some of my deeper local dives say 20-30m range. I got my LDS to quote me on some standard mixes and the prices are as they are as follows

EAN32 in a 12l cylinder - £12
EAN32 in a 15l cylinder - £15.60

EAN36 in a 12l cylinder - £14
EAN36 in a 15l cylinder - £18.60

Compare that to a normal air fill of £4 for any single cylinder.

Now is that me or is that ridicously expensive?
Somehow I think I am going to stick to using Nitrox when I'm abroad!

That is ridiculously expensive, the price you are paying for a single 12 is more than I pay to fill the twins.

See if there is a local BSAC club that has O2 available to members, even with the annual club fee if you used nitrox on every dive you will still be better off

Or find a more realistically priced shop, top wack around here for a 12 up to 40% is 7 quid

P.S....£4 for air! even that is expensive, get a new shop....

Maybe they think that for nitrox you have to put oxygen and then nitrogen in separately rather than topping up with air...

I wrote the original email with the intentions of filling my own tins or borrowed tins from a mate. I never actually made reference to this in my email but never mentioned rental.

Anyway his reply pretty clear:

"Hi Matthew,
Prices are, 12l EAN32 and EAN36 £12 and £14 and 15l EAN32 and EAN36, £15.60 and £18.60.

This is for filling from empty. Clean air fills are £4.

The "this if from filling from empty" line would not have been included if using rented tanks.



So the prices are quoted are for the fills only and DO NOT include cylinder rental.

i usually have a 40% fill so slightly more than their avergae price - they do do a special deal for regulars - £4 up to 36% per cylinder regardless of size, £5 for 40%, £2 per cylinder for air, so £4 for twins.

At the 501 club in Folkestone you pay , £97 a year club fee that entitles you unlimited fuels for air their 02 is extra I have a 18 L cylinder cost me £4.50 to pounds for a 3 L cylinder up to 50% 15L cylinder up to 50% in £3.50. we have a clubhouse with bar big car park which is free and we have changing rooms with showers and our own compressor room we can pump cylinders from seven in the morning to 9 at night I don't think we have it too bad
