Yep have same trouble to read a post you have to keep refreshing the page.  AOL is sh**e possibly, not without doubt is the slowest worst isp you can ever choose.

My 13 yr lad can have a teen email addie and still get spammed with vigra and porn yet aol proudly boast of their parental controls, what a load of old b*****s and they dont give a t**s if you tell them either.

Get rid of it biggest hunk of junk I have ever seen would not let it within a 100 miles of my PC.  Get one of the other broadband offers as Dom suggested Freeserve, BT and now doing a 1meg link no.  But AOL

yep I used to use AOL and what a nightmare, I used to spend more time trying to get through on the helpline than I ever did on the Internet, quite often daily !
The most annoying thing is that it used to disconnect me in the middle of typing an e-mail and when I phoned the helpline they repeatedly told me that it doesn't do this when it so obviously did !
Telewest broadband now , no problems whatsoever certainly worth the extra couple of pounds a week.
broadband is the way forward

unfortunatly it seems people are having problems with aol,i wouldnt suppose the computer slowdown is nothing to do with your registry being choker -block with undelleted bits of programs .and as for the slow down same again its how you look after the computer im still yet to see a slow down but hey what do i know ive only been useing aol since version 4 and what we on now aol client 8 broadband
as regards to useing bt i wouldld rather have my air switched off at tghe hydrobox than go with an i.s.p that cuts you off after 2 hours stick wi aol

AOL.. big yuck.

But is you want to use them, may I suggest that when on YD use another browser to view the site and just use their dial up, as AOL browser can be a bit pants.

Other browsers to consider:

Opera
Mozilla
Netscape

Even the dreaded MicroSh#te is better than AOL browser.

MS Explorer

When I was doing Tech Support, for a certain well known ISP I was forever , getting customers ringing up having installed AOL for a free trial etc, wanting to rid their machine of it.  The time spent at a £1 a minute  trying to eradicate it was sorrowfull. Their browser's tends to take over your machine and of course make it as difficult as possible to connect to any other ISP.

Used AOL 6,7 and 8. 6 and 7 were on Windows ME, AOL8 is on XP - works fine, not had any problem at all. Did used to have some problems on ME with pages not displaying. Brother in law says AOL8 crashed his system (??) but as we're both using XP I think it was his set up rather than AOL 8.

Office computer has Freeola Broadband installed and that is the dogs bollocks! For home use though I'm happy with AOL8
