The Halo I've seen before, but what the heck is the tornado like thing coming from the sun? It was slightly overcast but otherwise clear. I'm really bewildered.

Going to post this on the ever important cloud appreciation society to see if they can answer me.

Yep, that is what drew to my attention in the first place, then snapped the pic quickly on the iphone.
Waiting for a reply on cloud geek forum but it is not as active as YD!
