UPDATE 17/4/10:
As has already been mentioned. the way your LDS/Apeks Technician will test this is to hold an eraser against the small retaining bar you can see through the oral inflate and try to turn the deflate knob.
If it turns it's fooked, if not it's ok.
Just took two WTX3 wings in to be checked, one failed one passed. Knob is now loctited (I've just invented that word) back into position

And to clarify: This potentially affects ALL WTX wings

Hmm... the APEKS site is not particularly clear - do we know if this relates to the whole XTX range? I have the XTX3 I think.

I guess, unless anyone has already checked, I'll give them a call tomorrow.

Yes, WTX are their wings. Bugger, supposed to be diving with my WTX4 next week.

I wonder if my DUI drysuit will spontaneously combust if I wear a BCD this weekend, or whether I risk it for 8 more dives.

That's a bugger. One of the main reasons I bought the WTX wing was because the inflator felt really robust.

Anybody going to post up how they tested it??

I have a WTX3 and can't be arsed schlepping to an Apeks dealer.

I may just give the buttons a good tug, see if they fall apart.

I have been told that the bottom button is held in place by locktight
and to test it a pencil eraser should be put through the
oral mouth piece and pressed against the bar leading to the dump knob,
this is to stop it turning, you then see if the knob will unscrew by hand.
If it won't then yours is fine, if it will then refit using strong locktight.

That is what I was advised to do and thankfully it's fine.

As Morag says, it aint very clear. It talks of the WTX BCD. I have the WTXR Wing anyone know if this is an issue? Am waiting on a reply from Apeks but I certainly do not want to send the thing back to the UK.......

All the wings are classed as the "WTX BC Range" so that would include yours.
