Armed forces Navy Diver - does anyone have one?

I was thinking of getting one of these for my Nephews 5th birthday, does anyone have one?

If so how easy is it to get the kit on and off? My sister won't thank me if she ends up spending all her time undressing it (unless I could find her a real life version)! ;)

Hmmm, he's got a pony.............................

I know ..... who would think the navy dived with a pony .... if I could find one with an rb or twins then I would be much happier, but at least he is in black!

They've dived with a pony for a while now. Royal Engineers are the same.
Seems to be missing a couple of hoses, compared to the RE kits I last saw. Also if you look at the pictures, is it just me or is the regulator on the Full Face Mask different. On some hose comes from the left and on others its from the right.....
what is wrong with a black one . my wife likes my one. my suit a course what did you think I was talking about
i have ordered 2.1 for a grandson And one full me.

No, that would be the BSAC diver

My son will be applying to be a real one next year, but as he will only be 19 I have a feeling you may break him unless you are very gentle
My son will be applying to be a real one next year,
Does he know that there is currently a two year wait to join as a Clearance Diver? And the waiting times are only going up? Some branches already have a three year wait.

He might be better off applying now.

Yes we know about the wait, unfortunately he had a chest infection 3 years ago and the doctor gave him an inhalor to speed the healing process (used it for a week), we have since found out you must have four years clear of using an inhalor before you can join the forces.

I never knew that and I did 22 in the Army, so he has to wait till next year, have told him to join as seaman and hopefully he can then apply and maybe do boat diver whilst waiting.

Thanks for the info, unfortunately it seems all he can do is wait - will give him time to build up his fitness hopefully
i doubt i'd break him, i always look after my toys. Boys are no exception ;) :D

I might be wrong, but I thought it was only if the inhalator was for the treatment of Asthma.

Hmmm, having looked at website it states not having suffered asthma for four years, however the marine at the careers centre said it was use of inhalator for four years.

Might just send him down to the doctors to get checked out and see whats written in his medical records

Cheers for that I might get rid of him sooner than planned, damn whilst that cuts my costs it means I haven't got a dive buddy readily available (when I can kick him out of bed)

No the BSAC model has a beard.

What is usually meant by that is if you have asthma its no longer considered an active problem after 3 years of not needing treatment....Yes IF you have asthma. Doesn't sound like your son ever had asthma.

We bought one last week and I wouldn't recommend it for a 5year old. We had to superglue the hands & feet on, they are poorly made for a childrens toy. Our guy is off for his virgin dive at Abbs at the weekend ;-)
i always look after my toys.
I know where you left your last one. Even though you were lost at the time ;)
