Has anyone diving (PADI) in the Canaries been asked to give a medical certificate signed by a doctor. Legally I think it's required, but I've been told most centres self certify

Cheers

If you are just doing normal diving then normally nothing is asked for...if you are doing your DM course and bits like that, then yes you have to have a medical..

I dont know anyone that has been asked just for normal diving.....although all certifications are checked and log books sometimes.

May depend on the dive center...

Last time I dived in Fuerteventura (couple of years back) they asked for one.
You can get one over there at the local medical centre for @ £12

Spanish regional law is confusing. Some regions yes, some no. Best to ask Dive center but generally no, you don't need it.
I'm using a new dive center in Galicia where they ask for it, but the one down the road doesn't.
