I went in June this year and enjoyed it. Like the others I was diving with Cabo Verde Diving who were really friendly and helpful.

OK the diving isn't like the Red Sea and does not have the colour, but I did see some completely different and unusual stuff. Loads of different moray, various nudibranchs, turtles, trumpet fish, triggerfish. We did a couple of great wrecks - I particularly liked Boris. Currents can be strong. Pelagic stuff we missed, but generally appears in July, August time (dolphins, mantas, whales - check with Cabo Verde).

Other than diving, the island of Sal is pretty ugly and now quite a building site. I enjoyed the food, but if you don't like fish then you won't.

Other activities - kite surfing, wind surfing and sunbathing (very little rain year round pretty much from what I gather).

Hope that gives you a 'fair' idea of what it's like.
