Cracking video. Reading the comments it comes from an IMAX film, seeing that on a 40ft screen must be very impressive, especially watching the sparks jump. 3000v/cm I remember is the dia-electric capacitance of air...

And they do that in the uk as well. Thankfully that came after I did my stint with the line gang.
Impressive when you think that the supergrid lines run at 400,000 volts mmm.

I work up to 132kV but nothing live like that, highest we work on live is 11kV

Some really pretty colours to be seen making and breaking load even at that "lower" voltage
yup can be really mesmerising watcghing the arcing. never been dropped on a live line before but I have been up in the cradle on the supergrid a few times.
