Just got back from two weeks of backpacking around Croatia. It wasn't strictly speaking a dive trip as we were with non diving friends but we did manage to sneak two dives in on the island of Mljet in the south. As I'd expected the diving was fair but not brilliant, very good vis of 20m plus but not very much life. We did see two morays and loads of nudibranchs. The afternoon dive took in a Roman wreck, loads of amphorae but not much else. Still it was interesting as I'd never seen amphorae before. It was very expensive though - we hired gear (except regs) and each dive cost the equivalent of £27. You are also supposed to buy a Croatioan diving licence but the operators made no mention of this.

The country as a whole is well worth a visit, cheap by European standards and very beautiful. The travelling is easy with plenty locals able to understand english. We took in Dubrovnik, Mljet, Sibenik, Zadar,Zagreb and the Plitvice National Park as well as the Kornati Islands ( a day trip). The highlighs were Dubrovnik and Plitvice.

One other plus is for the single guys - the Croatian women are without doubt the most attractive I have ever seen - all very shapely and extremely well groomed.
