I dived on the German U boat, the U1195 yesterday, great bunch of divers on Wightdiver, excellent dive and great viz..glad I had 2 tanks, wish I had a third!!!
Cant wait to go again, anyone interested I can charter a boat for the 21st or 22nd August , let me know if you're interested, and which date

Yep and 10.000 ton liner Cuba which lies not far from the 1195.
The sad thing was that it was almost the very end of the war
and they knew they'd lost. With the German navy and airforce
all but wiped out the U-boats were (apart from the V-weapons)
the only long-range attack force they had, so were told to do
as much damage as possible in a last ditch attempt.

As a result the crew took ever greater chances and eventually
went just that too far. It was sunk using the navies hedghog
type depth-charge/mine which fired a lot of smaller charges
over a wider area. You can still see the main damage just
foreward of the control room.

Sobering to reflect that there are still about 16 men in that
sub most around the ages of 18-20.

Great shots, now I know what it looks like. I dived it at the beginning of April, and had about half metre viz :cry:

Sorry, I meant your Photography kit.
U1195 is one of my fav dives.
Looks like dive season will be on hold for the next week or two due to **** autumnal like weather.

Ah..know what you mean, I'm supposed to be to St Abbs this Thursday, but will have to check the weather first! long way to go for it to be blown out!
