I arrived back in Riyadh on Friday evening, unfortunately my dive bag didn't make it. It is now 36 hours since I arrived and they still can't trace the bag. I am now missing:

2 x Buddy Commando (I was selling 1 on)
Apeks TX200 1st & 2nd with 50 Octo
Aladin Z air transmitter on 1st stage
Torch
Knife
5mm Semi-dry
compass
buddy mini reel
2 x SMB

and a load of other stuff I can't remember and I am feeling gutted!!

Look on the bright side - it's all insured (I hope), so you now have the fun of choosing some nice new shiney toys!

Errrr, actually no, it isn't insured!

I'm not on holiday so no holiday insurance. My home insurance is from Thailand and doesn't cover this kind of eventuality.

Buying new kit is problematic (Mrs Iani) as I have just bought new tech kit, the missing kit is my rec kit.

Fingers still crossed it will turn up.

Have you completed the relevant claim forms with the airline?
We were caught out on this one (damaged cases)as we did not complete some forms at the airport

Yes claims form filled in last night, it has to be completed within 72hours so that should be ok.

Have just returned from the airport, my baggage finally arrived after 3.5 days, seems ok but won't know for sure till I get it back to my accomodation and check.

Now what can I spend the money I'd already mentally spent replacing it all on?

That's great news.  You get your tried and trusted kit back, Mrs Iani doesn't have to get upset about you spending any more money on kit and you can go diving without having to wait for some protracted insurance payout.

losing your diving gear must be like loosing an old friend. Glad to hear it all turned up....now put it back on a plane and pop over to Oman....we have beer here!

Neil, I'm hoping to make it next month, just waiting for some delivery forecasts to enable some planning and I'll be over. No laughing at how little beer I can handle after a few weeks in KSA.

Hey Ian,

Good news mate. Glad it all turned up safe and sound!

And take Neil up on his offer of a wet (beer AND diving) in Oman - the diving's stunning and you can get bacon sarnies and beer afterwards! Happy days

Thanks Simon, I may well take you up on that.

It's now 10 months since I had decent bacon, when I go home to Thailand we only get US style streaky stuff.
