Hi Everyone,

My names Rich, I have been diving for about 4 years, currently a DM, most of my diving is done in the uk, but have done some warm water stuff , most recently last summer working as a DM in Indonesia ( if you can call it work) in the wakatobi region which was ace. I also have a degree in marine biology, with university been the place I first learnt to dive and then inveitably became hooked on diving. Currently my diving is mainly only done in inland muddy lakes either helping the uni with training or visiting various inland sites, although hopefully going to get some coastal diving done this year . I have all my own gear buddy commando BC, Mares abyss 2 regs , ROHO commercial drysuit, ....just need a cylinder as have in the past just used univeristy cylinders.. Im on a budget , would love to go for twin 7`s or 10`s , but thinking a single 15ltr might be in order ..not sure about the pony option yet cant make my mind up , as Ive always been taught thats what my buddys for ...Il stay sitting on the fence for now on that issue.

having read quite a few bits on here Im looking forward to joining in ! Thanks Rich

Welcome. You will learn plenty on here. FFS dont ask about pony cylinders though. Just kidding. Enjoy.
You say "Hi from Beverley" then say your name is 'Rich' - it that only at weekends? :D

How big is that place? have a friend from there and he always describes it as a small village and the pub (when he were a lad - he's about 50 now) was in two old ladies' front room, so it mus t be tiny, but I've met more people from Beverly than I have from, say, Manchester.

Anyway, welcome to YD.
Thanks guys, Turbanator , Beverley is a small market town, about 9 miles outside Hull, its all very historic and the town is packed full of pubs, its actually a nice place live. Nice to see a fellow beverley diver mike.
Hello rich, from Cumbria also a small market town with Lakes. I don't know anyone called Beverley though.

Have fun! Steve
You forgot to mention how awesome your DM instructor was :D
I know that Beverley had an old airport with a disused Beverley aeroplane parked on it. I found it once when I was flying around, completely lost, and trying to find a different airport. Its all gone now tho I believe
My instructor...Oh yeah her..she was at complete nut job! shouting at me doing the swims " faster faster" poking me with her pencil during the stress test, making me dive without a hood in the cold waters of the uk. How could I forget her.. we have since become good friends! You nutter xx

Beverley yes it does have an airbase just on the outskirts in a village called Leconfield. RAF leconfield is where they used to fly from it is now the main military driver training camp in the uk (which is why there are convoys of different coloured army lorries driving all round the local area. The camp is also currently home to a search and rescue sea king squadron. The Beverley transport plane which I belive is the only one left in the world fully assembled . which was built in Bruff not Beverley was situated at the Beverley army transport museum for a lot of years. Basically a massive building full of tanks, trains ,and other old military hardware some of which you could clamber over and dive about in , (when such things where allowed before health and safety bods stopped such behaviour). The Beverley plane is now situated at fort paul on the humber.

It was for your own good to make you learn and grow as divers x
Tiggy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hows you doing? xx Yes you defo did..it I distinctly remember it! It was in that boarding school pool just down the road from uni. I even asked you afterwoods how come you did it ?.." You didnt looked stressed enough" was your answer! ... I should have realised about the hood when the dude getting out said your going to what depth?...without a hood? then gave a funny look. I dont have the luxury of lovely thick hair covering my perfectly round head anymore for insulation...I will always wear a hood in this country..dont care how warm it is..made that mistake twice now! Once with tiggy and once with you lucy.. You`d think Id learn.
