I've checked my cylinders for rust every year and never seen any until this year. When I took the boot off my oldest cylinder (14 years old) in August I found the bottom had started to become pitted with rust in severla places. If you must use boots (I still do), I strongly recommend everyone to remove them and check their cylinders NOW.
