In short whilst i respect the Vision as a solid unit i personaly wouldn't want one and would probably throw it over the side the first time it presented me with a "no dive" screen.

Right, this made me think how many were there "no dive" warning on a Vision and what was the reason for it?

thank you

Clasic throws up no dive when it fails to calibrate.
Why is not stated, it just sulks.

If you get no dive during the dive, you have already got something badly wrong.

Worst I`ve had is a cell error during a dive(dodgy cell); but with a dill flush you can work out which cell is fubar and finish the dive driving the unit manually keeping an eagle eye on the other two readings.
Difference between a clasic and a vision is like counting using fingers or using a windows product; one can fall over without explanation at the worst moment and the others rarely fall off.

All the divers in our gas group who missed dives were due to garbage on the screenj or no info at all. We kno the blank screen (bloom) issue was due to a faulty heat sink we never got to the bottom of the garbage text on screen issue.

Poor old Trevor seemed to have got the short straw missing at least four dives to my knowladge so far. Tim (Dangerous) missed a few due to the bloom issue and Rocky had a no dive issue on his Vision as well.

>500 hours on a Classic. Not missed a single dive.

I believe the situations for "No Dive" are:

- battery less than 4.7v
- cell < 7.5mv
- cell > 13mv
- cell missing
- cell stuck (not changing on calibration)

There must be others, especially for a Vision.

Cheers
Matt.

Can't believe you took the time to dig all of that up Mark !! You seriously hate AP dont you ?! :D

Anyway most of those threads are from 2006/7 when the Vision software was very new - much more reliable these days but thats not to say there isn't the odd sticky button, pixellated screen out there from time to time. Theres so many Visions out there now and a lot fewer issues being reported on the forums.

For the record I have a [email protected] Shearwater backup which I absolutely love to bits but it too has had a few software related issues (chewing through batterys etc...) along the way. The folks at Shearwater had it sorted out in pretty good time though :)

I don't hate AP as much as I dislike bullshit

I have postied similar threads on the KISS Inspo Classic Hammer Head rEvo and JJ

Perhaps I hate them all.

Or Perhaps I prefer to be honest about the unit I dive. I recently posted about the VR3 stating cleraley that i owned two which were faultless in their years of service OC and CCR save for a lost line of pixels on one unit.

Then I admitted they must be unreliable because there are so many reports of failures with the VR3

Just because i personaly didnt experiance the failure I was not blind to wahts going on arround me.

2011 and some software revisions = there are far fewer issues these days.

Nicola had a piezo button issue on her handset but then I have heard of problems with the same type of button on Shearwaters. Not had one of those ourselves yet.
