I've managed to get hold of an ex Army/booty/SBS inflatable thats deflates and fits in the back of an Escort van. Fuel tank, outboard, dive kit for 2 just about fits as well. next time you lot are down here we can have a right good ponce about with it. It is supposed to take 12 people.

How big is the engine, 40/50 hp, I doubt much bigger. If you put 12 and kit on the boat, it won't move too fast, and you wont go too far, fuel goes far too quick. 2 stroke/pre-mix I suppose as well.

It may be better to go 6 with kit and (if you are lucky) a non-diving cox. A bit faster, better range etc. Don't forget VHF/flare/anchor with plenty of scope/buoys etc.

I won't be boating for a month or so, but I am up for helping you if I can. I have been involved with largish sqidgies before Although we did tend to keep it together.

Good luck

Adrian

A couple of Mariner 25s push it along, but just for messing about in the Sound, Mashfords, Battery bouy, Breakwater fort etc just the one will do.  We had three on it at Salcombe to do the Herzogin and there was plenty of room for another three, it's supposed to take 10/12 kitted pongos.  It's got two 10 litre cylinders to inflate in under two minutes and letting it down and slinging back in the van didn't take more than 1/4 of an hour.  It'll only get used for quick close dives but it will travel.

So it won't have to carry your lunchbox then?

Sounds good for those close in spots, save a surface swim and get round corners etc.   When do we get a shot?

Fabled lunch box? Have I missed something? Maybe I was drunk. Again.

Well, bring it to Stoney. Hey, are there rules about launching boats there? We could have our own bit of fun on the other side without the need for that damned swim! Cessna here we come!

I thought the idea of a boat was to use it in the sea going over the waves with the wind in your hair thinking of the wrecks your going to dive and how they sank and which war they were in,NOT watch out for that lily pad and i wonder if there is any more crap bunged in this pond for us to look at, perhaps a duck will land so we can jump its wake  DOUG DO US A FAVOUR STICK TO THE SEA OR PEOPLE WILL START QUESTIONING YOUR SEXUALITY

You wait til you have a go in it.  Mdemon, SIMpletON and i had a cracking dive out of Salcombe in it at the weekend.  You won't be able to figure out why it stays on the surface and doesn't crash into the rocks, Of course you will, you won't be steering it.
