Anybody know anything about cars.

I have a slight vibration on my steering wheel most noticeable when travelling at motorway speed. I have had the wheels balanced again and I think there is a slight improvement but it's not totally gone. I don't expect it to be totally smooth but what's the norm or an acceptable amount.

Vehicle is VW Sharan 5 years old.

What's the next step to wheel balancing and hopefully low cost?

Thanks

David

If the balancing and tracking have been checked then you're looking at bearings or bushes usually.

I have not checked tracking but it's not pulling to the side!
Jack up the front wheels and support them with safety stands. Hold the wheel at 12 and 6 and see if you can rock it. Then hold it at 3 and 9 and see if it will rock. There should not be much play....if there is then it's almost certainly bearings.

Although it could also be drivetrain related....does it do it in neutral? If it does then that rules out the drivetrain.

Bearings, track road ends, bushes, no of these are expensive. could be balancing... get it in the garage and it will be sorted in half a day
