Since I first heard about the place at Chepstow I've been wondering where the title National Diving Centre came from.
Was it self appointed or did some official body grant the title?

Seem to remember a few years ago Stoney was also known as a National Diving Centre.!!!!!!!!!

Whats the criteria for the title?

Funnily enough if you google on "national diving centre, Stoney comes out first, followed by YD (!), John Liddiard's page about the NDC in third, and then the NDC site in 4th place!
Stoney's home page includes the tag "welcome to stoney cove, recognised as the national dive centre since 1963"

Isn't the NDC's title actually the NDAC?

NDC just registered the name, Stoney did'nt. When NDC changed hands the A was added
