The wrecks are also covered in hard and soft coral!!!!!
Yeah, you can hurt your hands on that coral stuff - best wear gloves

Everywhere else in the world, a red smb DOES mean distress. As usual, it's we Brits that are out of step

Just to realy confuse you

I went out with Emperor Divers and we were not allowed to wear gloves on reef dives but wqe were allowed to wear gloves on wreck dives.

If you have a skin complaint you need a letter from your docter to allow you to wear gloves.

Knives are not a problem AFAIK but entanglement is not a big thing as they dont tend to fish their wrecks with nets or lines as we do in the UK.

The bit about sharks was a joke right

The rule is at the discretion of the dive guides its not a local rule. We were doing 90min+ run times with temps down to 15c on the planned dive depth week before last and gloves were esential so we wore them without complaint form the guides.

We were instructed to use red blobs for OK and yellow for lost gas or a problem when were were diving with Posiden Diving in Dahab last weak. Sending up SMB's was part of the dive plan so we did ask on convention and they asked for red blobs to signal OK but on deco.

The distress blob goes up on the same line as the red blob so there would be two side by side on the surface so confusion would be negligable.

Most of the dive guides were English but our guide / surface cover was Japanese
