Hi all,
don't think this has been mentioned yet so here goes....

New Page 2
(hope those links work)New Page 2

I've just been sent an email inviting me to one of the tour dates where they show off this new mask and let you try it....

Just wondering what everyone thinks about it as it certainly caught my eye (no pun intended) and if anyone thinks there is a need for it or its fixing a problem that doesnt exist

the floor is now open.......

1) I think( know) I would cry like a baby if I lost it

2) for technical dives I can see big disadvantages in multi gas situations

3) It would be a nice thing to have...I like a good gadget

4) Would be even better if they joined forces with Delta P and incorpirated a VR3

on balance I think it has a place but only within tightly defined criteria

Regards

Giles

So, its and Air computer only, built into a mask and costs £800.

(1) I have bad enough problems getting a mask to fit (I do have a couple now though).
(2) It has an all black (non-clear) skirt which some people find claustrophobic.
(3) It is only an Air computer.
(4) It is extortionate.

Boy I am glad I am not the person trying to promote this, the market would be pretty small. Air users who it fits and like the mask, and like a non clear skirt, and would be willing to pay the price and decide that they actually want one enough to cough up the money.

Well, you did ask...

Paint a blue 'H' on it and it might sell better ;)

i wouldnt pay to try it crikey no and agree very odd!

if they wana sell stuff they will have to do free trial days
Actually it's a very sensible marketing strategy. It's called "highly qualified leads".

Only those people who are genuinely serious about buying one will pay to try it. Otherwise they will have the world and their granny turning up to try the gimmicky mask but who would have no intention of ever buying one.

Lots of businesses do this especially with high ticket items.

Just a thought.

OK, I understand your point but a cpl of things here..

How many of these do they actually expect to sell ? Very few I would think so they won't "want you to buy so bad" in your terms.

These are very probably aimed fairly and squarely at the Astom Martin, boat owning holiday diver with large disposable income. So the sales projection will be small.

What they have got right from a marketing point of view are the following.

1. Lot's of people are talking about it. (No such thing as bad publicity)
2. You are saving them a fortune in marketing costs, we are now part of their "Viral marketing" policy. This is all FREE.
3. I bet their web site hits have gone through the roof ! And guess what, over 50% of the visitors will go look at other products while they are there. (thats a proven fact)

Overall, it's a great strategy and one that is proven to work, time and time again. That's why they do it.

So if they let you try one for free, would you be seriously interested in buying one ? Be honest now, I'm curious.

Cheers

Nope. But I am not interested even if it was £80 to buy.

I totally understand where you are coming from Phil, being in business and having more than a passing interest in the sales and marketing aspects of business, I know what you are saying. I do wonder though if you have more of an interst in this mask then you are saying :D
