Shame on us!!

Seeing as January/Feb will be a bit lean on the old diving activities for most/some folk, we'll have to do a YD Treasure Hunt for a troop gig!!!

Apart from being a shed-load of fun on the day itself for all concerned, it will test your diving skills, your compass & navigational skills (be honest, when was the last any of you actually used a 'reciprocal angle'?), and the water won't be full of 'diver-soup' to fugg-up the viz!!

We'll have to do it somewhere simple and surface-coverable (RIB/Medico cover), like say Capernwray (open to suggestions here), as this site has plenty of in-water features on which to hide/place the clues.

There could be prizes for the buddy pair who either collects the most clues or completes the course in the shortest time - and gets all the right answers: e.g. 1st prize, a night out with Davey Willo at a Dog Track of your choice; 2nd prize, two nights out with Davey Willo; 3rd prize, a four hour dissertation on the Franco-Prussian Alliance of 1872 - in the original Latin - with Bren!!!! Failing that, we could come up with real prizes ;)

OK YD - consider this a Troop Gig!! Let's be having your names added to the following:

Heads Up
DalesDiver
Davey Willo
2Tanx
Bren
?
?
???

Come on!! Let's hear ya!!!!
 LARGE IT!!!

Well don't we already have a loverly lady member who's recently organised such an event and also ugly male members who've taken part in said treasure hunts organised by said lady member.... Shouldn't we be involving said people to help organise and kick ass on this thing?

Is anyone creative at thinking of clues?

Why not make it a little tougher than usual, include a couple of dive sites (lakes and capernwray.) Give us something to do in the surface interval??
Make it an all day job ending up in a pub!

Hi "lads",

The lovely lady who organised the last Treasure Hunts was DiveChick, she was raising money to go work on a Conservation Project in the Bahamas.  I suspect by now she is there and having a whale ( or at least a dolphin ) of a time.

Our team managed to win/ scrounge the booby prize - a cracked, chipped Beaver mug which is still on my car and is available as a prize for the next event - so some Nav practice  may be very appropriate.

After this fiasco, I bought a new compass as Ben and I had three between us and they all pointed in different directions - so much for always trust the bugger.

Cant remember the clues ( and we didnt find em all anyway ) but they were only bearings leading to the next Crapenray feature.

I believe some people did the whole thing in about 8 mins, we would still be down there gropng through the mists.

Equal rights for ferrets....that is equal rights for ferrets "oop north".. They've already done sheep, whippets, loaves of Hovis (though not these new-fangled wholemeal ones - they have rough bits in 'em apparently).  They didn't want to be left out!

This has all gone rather downhill, hasn't it?

Back to the treasure hunt.....ideally the clues would take some time to work out so that the winners are determined by skill in working out the clues and accuracy of navigation...not just speed of swimming.  Even with me new Quattros I amn't racing no-one!

I'm not gonna let the cat out of the bag re the clues.  you'll have to wait till the day for access to the clues.

unless... bribery could be an option!
