Old Valve

I've been given a dry suit by a friend (he inherited it along with a few other bits) and he's asked me to see if it's worth anything.
I don't know how old it is but it has this inflator on it, which is not like one I've seen before. It also has some sort of dump valve/vent on the forearm (didn't get a pic of that but can take one) - it's circular, about 1.5 inches across and has a ring of holes.
Can anyone shed any light on
a. what sort of inflator it is ?
b. does anyone still use them (and thus is it worth anything) ?

The forearm vent sounds like a standard wrist dump to me. Fairly standard kit, never seen an inflator like that though. Probably easy enough to change out to a modern one, a lot depends on the size of the hole underneath it. 1st step should be to have it pressure tested and find out how many holes the suit has.

It's a schrader blowgun inflator. Here's an old thread, I can't find any pics though.

The dump valve does sound like cuff dump:

The inflator is a blowgun valve. Very useful if you are sending up a lot of stuff with lift bags, but to be honest not really worth having because if a hose blows you're going to struggle to get a replacement easily.

Just get a drysuit repair shop to swap the blowgun valve for a new inflator, shouldn't be too expensive, they can pressure test it for you before they do it so you won't waste a load of money on a suit that's riddled with holes.

Digs.
