Wrecktrekkie, Mdemon and i dived. Not for any particular reason, just because we could.  It seems a shame to live so close to the coast and not dive at every chance you get. I feel sorry for anyone who has to dive in ponds all the time..

Stood on the side of a very muddy puddle (Ashby ville or something like that, in Scunthorpe) teaching the BSAC Practical rescue management course. Thankfully I didn't have to get in it.

<font color='#0000FF'>I had my arse pounded for an hour by this big awkward fella called Clyde....

Consequently I can't sit straight and I'm walking funny....

Had to go horse riding with the Missus for Valentines Day - bloody commercialised exploitation of the male sex.

<font color='#8D38C9'>Went to Vobster to test rebreather on Sunday watched by CDG Massive.  Drysuit has got a hole in the knee and I was so cold and bored after 30 minutes that I gave up.  CCR worked OK though.  Spent last night finding leak, drying suit and gluing it up so that I can take it abroad at the end of the week.

Was not impressed by Vobster.  At least there's a pub at Stoney.

Well given my location if I stopped diving due to time constraints/local sea conditions I would have quite a few extended dry spells.

So rather than stop diving,  I am more than happy (Yep happy
) to throw myself in a muddy hole in the ground.

Yes I prefer the sea, but when I cannot spare the time to head off to the coast or the conditions are poor,  I will throw myself into a quarry somewhere.

To be honest I just love being in the water and everything it entails,  I can keep myself amused just chilling out or practicing skills, buoyancy, blob deployment etc,  and when the coast is on,  I can drop in confident in my abilities (or lack of
) and just enjoy the dive rather than spending the first dive getting upto scratch.

I wouldn't have taken it up in the first place if i lived so far from the sea that it was a major trip to go diving.
No tides, current, life, fun.  You can't consider pond diving as real diving. Navigation is a doddle, same shit every time. How boring is that.
I feel sorry for the people who only dive in ponds and expect the sea to be the same.
I dived with an instructor who done all of his training in ponds oop North somewhere and then moved down here.  He was a nightmare to dive with, i kept well away from him during the dive and won't dive with him again. He talked a good dive on the boat but as soon as we hit the water, he was worse than useless.  Bouyancy, blob deployment, navigation, finning tecnique were no better than a newbie. And he was supposed to be leading the dive, imagine him taking you're mate for their first open water dive, it would frighten the shit out of them and they wouldn't want to get back in the water.

<font color='#000080'>I am getting bored of Stoney now. I'm pretty much just diving in there to test gear out and practive a few bits now and again, but even that I can do by diving in the sea, just do a blob fire every dive, practice messing about with DS and wing and all that...

Now, to sell next weekend to novices at a lecture tonight.

<font color='#8D38C9'>Joined an eclectic bunch Sunday 15th on Andy's boat Taurus out of Dover, (see trip report) great day, viz not quite the crystal clear water we were all hoping for, in fact it reminded me of a muddy pond!

Still we got wet, met some cracking people & had a day's fun on Loanda & the Pom!

<font color='#000F22'>A rather uneventful Sat diving at the NDC, to test my post service reg's and tanks prior to SOM & my buddy has a new BCD. A relaxed potter about for 30 - 40mins, and tried out my new camera. Definately need a strobe for it. I'll try and borrow one for SOM.
