Had 3 weeks diving Protea Banks, May being the season for Tigers, Bulls, Black Tipped and Sand tigers which arrived during my stay. Had 2 tigers up close on one dive. Sand tigers which arrive in the hundreds ready for the breeding season in June when the females arrive, allow you to swim among them as long as you take your time. It is not hard diving even at my age of 71 I had no problems at all. All normal dives are 37 metres if you go into the caves where sand tiger teeth can be found.

There are now two operators there now, African Dive Adventure the one I use, and Aqua Planet which have just started up.

For some unknown reason very few divers use Protea banks from Uk. They are trying to get into the UK market so any club interested in paying a visit there could get a special deal. Co owner Beulah Mauz can be found on face book where daily dive reports can be found.
