Hi all

I have a tekwing bouyancy cell on a diverite steel back plate and transplate harness ( with STA). I have 23kgs + 23kgs baggage allowance for redsea liveaboard. I will be using 15litres cylinder and 3mm full suit. 30m max

I have three options.

1. go with the above set up - I can get it all in my allowance.
+ familiar, comfy, less lead on belt. no new purchase.

- will I be overweighted in the water? tippy forward? heavy bags in transit.

2. Buy an ali plate.

3. Use BCD (old kit) and leave wing at home.

your input would be most gratefully received.

Neill

I use a tekwing with a DR Deluxe harness and the standard Buddy ABS plastic backplate with weight pouches on the wing. Have used it with single 12, single 15 and twin 12s. Never a problem, it's pretty light for travel. Might be the cheapest option to get one of these if you do decide to change.

Pity the rest of my gear isn't as I'm sure I'm over the 20kg allowed and I'm off to the Red Sea in the morning!! :)

I always take my SS BP as I prefer the weight on my back.

I hate switching back to BCD setups and avoid doing so whenever possible so personally that would be my last choice.

If you want to try an ali plate I have one you could borrow.

steel is better in the water - fine for red sea and you at a guess. ally is better in the plane - your call I would guess.
