I was in Brighton Casino on Sat last (someone wanted their stag-night to finish there) and I stopped by a few casino tables and the only event of any significance I saw was much scooping of chips down the tubes by the house.
Must admit, I love watching how it all works. I've got a great old booklet somewhere from the American Depression era about all the gambling scams that used to get run which was supposed to be a warning to gullible hicks because there were so many people on the road then. 3 card monte, pinboards, how to load dice and mark cards, how roulette tables were fixed, etc., as well as all the old classic short cons like goldbricking and the violin scam. Really fascinating book.

IIRC, there was a roulette table in France that turned up red 18 times in a row. Everyone was betting black by the end of the run. Well it couldn't possibly be red again could it...

Mugs. The odds of winning are 1 in 37 (38 in US with 00). Payout is 35:1. House always wins long term.

If you spin 150 times, it is 80% likely you will have a losing streak of 6 in a row, let alone all the other shorter runs.

Gambling runs in my family. Bookies, pit boss, etc. I was taught to play for nothing more valuable than matchsticks.
