This is an "urban myth".  I have a number of S'Pro and Apeks regs which I use on 100% O2. There is no special preparation necessary. I just use them straight out of the box.

I've even got service kits which say "NOT O2 CLEAN" on them which I happily use on my O2 regs.

Manufacturers won't condone this practice however.

<font color='#F52887'>next year I want a reg to use with predominately 80%, My girlfriend uses my old S'pro Mk20/S600 so as you say that this would be OK to use, all I would have to do is make sure it is O2 clean? I dont know if I can be out the extra money when I have this reg in the cupboard. When I will be using 80% she wont be diving so that would be OK as far as I am reading this. and also, she can use my Mk16/R380 on her pony when I am not using it on my lean mix sideslung.
