Last nights 9pm offering was excellent. A compilation of ameteur film of lighthouses, rescue services like the life saving apparatus teams, lifeboats, helicopter rescues etc. well worth a watch. Link: BBC iPlayer - Sea Fever: For Those in Peril

Worth watching just for the footage of the helicopter rescue from the french trawler and the interview with the very modest helicopter winchman who ends up showing the George Medal he recieved for his actions. The bit on the St Ives lifeboat disaster very nearly brought a tear to my eye when they described one woman as having lost a father, husband and brother in that one night. 3 members of the Cocking family were lost in one night. Quiet heros the lot of them.

I Know sometimes the BBC gets knocked, but sometimes they come up with gems like this
