OK goodly YD'ers, here's the skinny.

After this weekend's splendidly successful TDI Advanced Nitrox course in the Lakes and at the Cape, HelenM, Jules and Phil Ennis cooked up a cunning plan to run a 'I'm under water, it's hit the fan, what skills do I need to extract myself from the brown stuff?' weekend.

Projected Rescue & Safety Skills to be Covered:

* Complete regulator failiure and how to address this
* Controlled Buoyant Lift - of unconscious diver from depth
* Rescue Scenarios - e.g. search drills
* O2 Provider

Course Make-up:

* A day in the training suite at Dales Divers combined with
* A full day in the water learning and drilling the skills.

MINIMUM DIVER CERT FOR THIS GIG: Either PADI Advanced Diver or BSAC Sports Diver or other equivalent.

Envisaged a maximum of 12 divers for the course - this allows for a ratio of 1:4 instructor to candidate.

Course (Day One) to be held at Dales Divers training facility at:

Dales Divers
Bramhaw
Sedbergh
Cumbria
LA10 5HP

Day Two (in water) to be held at Wastwater in the Lake District (if you've never experienced 30 metre viz in the UK, now's your opportunity!! I jest you not.)

Cost is £45.00 per diver which covers both days instruction, air and resources from Dales Divers (instructors, CPR Dummies, O2 etc.) NB: This is a Dales Divers 'Brush up Your Skills' weekend and is NOT a certifiable course - it is open to ALL diver training agencies and schools. It's a good idea for those who are maybe just getting back into diving now the season is upon us and for those attending some of the dive trips currently on the YD Dive Trip calendar.

If it is found that this 'course' becomes over-suscribed, then we shall be happy to run another one very shortly after this one, so please don't worry if you can't get on this one, as we envisage that they will become regular events.

Right then, let's be having your names:

YD 'Skills-n-Drills' Weekend:

* 01 Helen 'Speak Up!' Mutter
* 02 Julia 'Tiggie Winkles' Clark
* 03 Bren Tierney
* 04 Rick 'Frogman' Huggins
* 05

What an excellent idea!  Kudos to Bren and Andy.  Unfortuntely I won't be able to make this but I would def. do so if I could.  I would def recommend this to almost every diver out there unless your skills are top-notch and routinely practiced - unlikely for the majority, even those Dive Leaders out there.

Have a great time folks.  I'll be thinking of ya.

Oh yes, we expect loads of piccies.

Cheers Tim mate,

Much as I'd like to take the laurels for this gig, I am but a mere messenger for the idea that was prompted by HelenM and Jules - and ably assisted Phil Ennis.

And yes, I can predict many a piccie post gig.

<font color='#0000FF'>Come on peeps!

No exam, no pass or fail, no badge

Plan is just a fun two days honing your skills and hopefully learning a new wrinkle or two. I have one or two new skills not on any agency training list I am aware of. Amazing what Andy and myself think up when we are bored.

Looks like the social side will be quite fun having heard from Jules and Helen. Those girls know how to enjoy themselves.

Pencil me in Phil, I'll have to run it past her who controls the finances and as I'm spending a fortune on Tech 1 in May she might freak but hayho.. he who dares wins and all that malarky.....

It's been ages since I saw young Mr Hayhurst and so its about time he snook up and turned my air off again.....

<font color='#000F22'>Might only be able to pop along on the Sunday to Wast but I need to pick up me stage from Mr Hayhurst so might as well come for a dip and a laugh.

<font color='#000080'>Can't do the date, but can't reccomend the guys at DalesDivers. Even if you've done RD or similar you could benefit from what's on offer from these guys. I learnt plenty of stuff on a Nitrox course of all things, and I've done most of the rescue courses going.

Get your names down!

Bren, I'm on for the next one, I might sort out some possible dates later in the year for others. I know of a fair few that could benefit from a weekend like this.

<font color='#000080'>Bren matey,

Please count me in for this please Mr Tierney. Also I guess Josie might like to do this. Will confirm when she's back. Jules have you booked the Hotel yet? I ask as the Adv Nitrox course I attended in Feb went very well when I booked Poppy Barn just outside kendal. It worked out at 30 quid for 10 sharing for three nights. I know this will only be two nights but its a great gaff and we could all then socialise together as we'd be in the same place. I could organise this again if you liked?
