Hi!

I was wondering who in the UK currently has the best prices for Sofnolime 797 1-2.5mm? What do you guys pay for your kegs, incl. delivery? Does anybody still do the big (20kg) kegs, or is everybody now only selling small ones?

Cheers,

Custom Divers - Sofnolime

Come in around £75 deilvered for the 20kg tub - they are pretty quick with delivery.
I use Go-Dive
£65 + £10 delivery.
Always long dated

And I've used Custom Divers too.
Both are great.

If you're anywhere near London I have a keg or two kicking around that i can let go as I'm not exactly spanking the hours at the moment due to my screaming, crapping, eating bundle of joy :D
UE at Portland also sells 20kg for £75 (at least that's what I was quoted) saves waiting in for TNT if your diving down Portland way :D
This stuff is as good as 797 in +16c water but lags behind in colder water. It knocks at least an hour off the stack time on my unit. (manufacturer testing in an ANSTI machine, not me plucking numbers out of the air)

Soda lime for rebreather diving, CCR diving, technical diving - CO2 absorbtion products from DIVELIME - Intersorb and Spherasorb
On my third 20kg tub of this and I am still here, at £60 delivered good sorb and great price.
This is interesting, I thought the tapping and turning of the scrubber when filling was in order to pack it tight. According to this medical site, we use this at work, tight packing is not the best idea..

Do what you think best Paul. I'm a pack it well kind of guy and I've got double channeling protection on my unit.
The last thing you want is a loose fill causing a channel and breakthrough with a couple of hours deco left to do forcing you off-unit
I don't know best but think anaesthetists have a lot of liability if someone sparks it during their watch. On the other hand the patient has the benefit of a third party watching over them and making calls based on an array of instruments and, hopefully, a wealth of experience.

Me? Still waiting for my head to come back so I can start Mod 1....

Tight packing is not a good idea as it increases WOB and is said to increase channelling. Sofnolime (like shown in the link) is shaped to self-pack.

There is a video of how to pack an APD scrubber on the APD web-site: Ambient Pressure Diving Ltd.

I've loose packed for 7 years, and the most noticeable difference is you get 8 good fills from a 20kg tub not 7.

I buy mine collected for £60 from Scuba+Outdoor.

Matt.

There is (or was) a video on the Apd site with details of how to pack. Most people over fill:eek:m the import it's not needed as the spring keeps things tight. If the scrubber is notably ,ore compact when you take it out compared to put it in then you are underfilling
Thanks guys. I will order some lime tomorrow.
Just spread out the old stuff, let it dry and re-use it. You lot are fookin wimps. :D
