Hello.  Having just moved here, I am looking for someone to show me a couple local divesites, as I would prefer to do my first dives in a new place accompanied by someone who knows the site. Having read an article on St. Abbs, the story in the magazine stating that it has good shore diving of course appeals to my sense of time and economics as well as adventure.
Problem is, for now, I dont have any weekends off for the foreseeable future.  So If anyone needs/wants a buddy for any weekday dives, email me.  Will also post this in the buddy thread.

Thanks

St Abbs is a great place to dive and will be a perfect introduction for you to our UK waters, that is as long as our weather allows it... theres loads of life and lots to see... vis permitting

There is a local diveshop who have no problem in giving you a conditions/vis report if you ring them the day before you go..Scoutscroft Diving Centre 018907 71338 They hire equipment as well if you get stuck for anything

DO NOT let Jay talk you into Stoney Cove, not unless the weather is against you anyway..... Jay get your arse up this way mate.... you'll have forgotten what salty water tastes like soon if you keep dipping into big holes in the ground...

I'm seriously considering taking the day off work to join you boys if you do go... hmmmm now do I use up a holiday or chuck in a sicky???   ;)

Hey, don't get me wrong! I LOVE St Abbs its just that I have to be in Coventry that evening so I thought ...

Otherwise I'd be on the A1 heading north anytime. Once the weather improves I'll do a day trip to St Abbs no problem!

Anyway, talk to yall soon

I can't as I'm off to frigging Coventry AGAIN (also I'm skint!). Here's the telephone number of a great skipper if you want to do a boat dive instead of shore - his name is Billy and he runs a boat (and guesthouse right on the quayside). Tel (018907) 71288

Well,my luck keeps running south.  The alternator on my vehicle went out 2 days ago.  Ive got a guy looking at it on monday, and if he can rebuild it for a decent price, I might be up and running in time for the 18th.  If not, then Ill be out of commission until a new one arrives in the post from the states.  Will keep you updated

Why dont you travel up with me then we can share the cost of diesel.  Plus if your car is out of action then theres no problem there.

Yeah it would be the best option to share transport costs anyway if your both coming from the same direction, crazy to use two cars when one will do.

Cos I'm a natural born pessimist I'm expecting our poxy weather to f*ck the whole session off anyway... but we'll keep our fingers crossed that the Gods smile on us...

I've informed the missus that we may have some ugly men who enjoy wearing rubber wanting to stay in our spare room, she just cocked an eyebrow.... smiled her.. 'you really ARE a strange bloke Dave' sort of smile that she uses quite often these day's and said "Ok no problem"

So thats fixed, now just get yerselves up on the 17th and we'll try not to have too much beer before we set off early on the 18th

That'll work, cept next weeks schedule came out.  I work the 18th, but am off the 19th and 20th, dunno if that could work for ya (what fun it is, I feel like I work at
McDonalds, what with not knowing my schedule week to week).   As far as vehicles, Cant wait till mine is back up, for not only do I have room for 4 with dive gear, but
get the better price on petrol too, (how far is St. Abbs from Harrogate, maybe make it round trip before needing to get more petrol, so dont have to buy the taxed stuff) so's when it gets back up, I can volunteer to be driver.  Sos if The 19th or 20th works for ya let me know

Cheers,
Scott

I don't have a problem going on the 19th or 20th if it helps but I'll need to know which, cos it means changing a few plans... I'm fairly sure my brother can do those dates too, but I'll need to speak with him, depends on how lenient his boss is I spose.

Andy is this ok for you?? and does this help Jay tag along??

Pick a number boys... 19 or 20..

AAAAHH!!! GODDAMMIT!!!!
Have started today on my HGV course at work, only to be informed that the test is on Monday next week, and cannot be changed.  Bleedin ####.

So I can't go on the 18th.  Double bleedin!

I can't go on the 19th or 20th either 'cos I have to work on those days also.

Looks like I am plumb out of choices, sorry lads, another time hopefully.
