Dear all,

Yesterday I received a belated birthday prezzie - an Inon W/A lense and tray for my C5050 and housing.

I'm now in the market for a strobe to complete the ensemble. I've heard there are different types available, but I've no idea where to start. There are no holes in the housing for a cable and I have no intention of getting the drill out. I presume that I'll therefore need one that fires by sensing the light from the built-in flash (?)

What type of strobe do I need?

What brands and models should I look out for?

Cheers,

Martin

Limited knowledge to get you by until someone else comes along.

your going to need a Slave strobe (senses the internal camera flash then fires)

these can have a 'sync cable' that masks over the camera flash and thus the slave takes over fully for botht the sensing flash for the auto exposure etc and the actual pic

Cameras underwater are great and terribly helpful. You will probably also find some useful info here Digigreen (and a few familiar faces/screennames :) )

I use a couple of Epoque 230DS strobes.

They can be cabled or triggered by the internal strobe, a bud of mine uses one on an 8080 slave triggered.

They are good value and have full manual adjustment... (A god send)

Cameras underwater sell them...

INON are also launching an updated strobe... try a search on the net.

These are the only digital strobes I've had experience with, but my first 230DS was so good, I went out and bought a second!!!

Cheers,

Mark

His English is excellent and specialises in Olympus. He can make anything fit anything and best priced I've found around.

Work quality is second to none.

Hope this helps
