BRIGHTOM MARINA EVACUATED AS DIVER BRINGS BACK TORPEDO
Bomb disposal experts were called in and part of Brighton marina was evacuated when a diver brought back a torpedo shell on Sunday 8 June.
The partially submerged shell was spotted close to moorings at the marina and caused a full scale alert.
Once Navy bomb disposal experts established that the damaged torpedo shell was not dangerous, the marina was re-opened. Divers finding artillery or other potentially dangerous objects are advised leave the items undisturbed and inform the Coastguard of the position.
