Trying to fit an O2 analyser to my Azimuth SCR - Help?

5392 Views 26 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  Terry Allen
I am trying to fit an O2 analyser into my Azi and bought a Submatix oxy scan 100 from Abyss uk on the understanding that the fitting would be suitable for it. However it came with a Drager P connection and so far Ive not been able to find a suitable plug and socket for it. Ive tried with Abyss but they are not answering me. Yes I could send the unit back and ask for a return on my money but then I have to start again. Can any body please point me in the right direction for a supplier.

you could try www.danshop.com to get a female "P" connector to put in the counterlung if that's what you are thinking. I can't remember if there are any spare ports in the azimuth for this purpose.

if you buy a "P" connector from dan shop, don't forget the locking ring as these are sold seperately.

hello terry is it just the p-port that your looking for? the port that you need to cut in to your lungs?
you can get them from http://www.danshop.com/dolphinatembeutelteile.html
or delta-p sell them for about £20 but i belive you will have to go though your local shop with delta-p
danshop are very helpful and speek good english although the site is german!
hope this is what your after!

Bugger me... serves me right for going to the dive show...

Terry, responded to your email... the guys here have done this more often than me... it really is a piece of p*ss though.

As metioned, if you want I can drop you a photo of the best place to cut the hole in the inhalation lung. Left hand side panel...

Just remember... don't be nervous... and don't cut through both sides of the lung... your namesake Terry (Humm) now has two p-connectors on his unit for exactly that reason. (Don't believe him if he tells you it's 'cos he wants two independent guages... :D )

Cheers Bud
Straightening the record....

HI,

Sent both parts of the drager P- connector (female locking nut for inside the bag, spring loaded 'male' section that goes external to the bag) out to Terry with the Oxyscan.. what I think he needs is the sticky backed gaskets to stick around the hole before screwing the two parts of the connector together...

This is the only Drager part we supply as it is deemed 'standard' into which you can plug a VR2/3 or our Oxyscan....

What they don't supply me with is the damn gaskets!!! I now have some and have emailed Terry as such...

As stated to Terry, it does of course mean cutting a hole in the bag... but not that tricky.. just takes a small leap of faith and a steady hand with some scissors!!!

If that is not the case, and he is looking for a totally different part, then I would be grateful of the clarity someone else can provide.. I have only ever seen an Azimuth at 10 paces in a carpark to be honest so if I am missing a fundamental, please let me know.

Cheers.. andy

...has he got all the bits he needs...?

HI,

Was at the show, but not exhibiting.. never done so at LIDS.. never 'felt' right... comments appreciated.. should we be at every dive show????

We will have a sizeable stand at the NEC in October again... but should we be at LIDS?

At the show, we did get the final sign off from TDI for our Submatix SCR course and a commitment from PSA that they will also accpet it and offer training on it.. if Penny Glover managed it, should also get sign off from BSAC for approval for branch diving activities... important stuff for the business....

For Terry... have I sent him all the bits he needs?? As I said, have no idea really of the Counter Lung construction on the Azi so not sure if we are looking at the same problem with different views??

Here's hoping the issue is resolved with the gaskets...?

Andy Bud,

Dropped Terry an email.

The lung is strong enough to take the port without the gasket.

Mines been in for about two and ahlf years.

He should be fine as it is...

It's just nerve wracking the first time you take a scalpel (screwdriver... electric drill... lump hammer) to your shiney rebreather.

Kit you've sent is spot on.

Cheers,

Mark

hi andy i hope you remember me????!!! i seem to bump into you every once in awile... im the guy with the ccr dreager who brought the mk48 off you a few years ago and always come over to say hi when your around at shows ...or stoney, why would you not want to show at lids? its still alarge amount of people who gets to see your stuff and the more who see the more who buy.

john routley
...phew!

Hi MAD.... glad you think I have sent the right bits... I was sure I had, but we have had long email convesations with Terry and I was beginning to think I had sent the wrong part altogether and he was after a specific Azimuth part... something I wouldn't stock for obvious reasons...

He has emailed and asked me to send the gaskets, which I will do whether he needs them or not.... at least all bases covered then!

Narked at 90... course I remember you - good to hear from you. Think I have seen you around at Stoney some time recently actually... we have been based out of the bottom of the pub for a few days recently. The function room there is perfect for running courses from... all you see is a set of 5 or 6 divers coming out of the door fully kittted in Submatix units, slip into the water, hour and half later... we all get out and slip back in again! Sure it looked very covert!

LIDS... maybe we will do it next year... again, was very quiet and quite small when I went up on Saturday... however, still MEGA expensive... would cost me around £10k to put a stand on and do it properly as per NEC... two of those a year need to be justified with increased income...

I do take on board your point re exposure... it is something that is very important to us. Now we have the training aspect covered, we can really start shouting about the Submatix...

I will ponder some more on that one! Come over and say hi if you are around at Stoney... running a course up there 20th-22nd March... from the function room again....

Cheers,

andy

Try Dive

Hi John et al,

Can't do the 16th 17th... but can do Sunday 10th April.... how does that sound????

Can meet at Stoney, run through the unit in the car park and go for a splash.. I have 5 units so could do 2 people at a time comfortably.... more if I can get one of the other Submatix Instructors to tag along...

Let me know what you think....

Andy
Andy
I have a Sea dive (wooohoo) that day, how about some time in May?
Cards on the table, cant see me buying one for a couple of years (minimum) so if you think I'm wasting your time I'll understand. Having said that if I enjoy it I'll let EVERYONE know.
