I moved up from a manual system to digital a year or so ago. I`m no expert in digital and always use it in auto mode. I`ve updated my web site with lots of UW pics, most of them in digital. If you are considering going digital check out what you can do with little knowledge !!!

for the site.

For those who like the tekky stuff, the camera is an Olympus C4040Z in an Olympus PT010 housing. Strobe is both internal and Ikelite DS-125 with a slave controller. The internal strobe (flash) is good for close up work in clear water.

Enjoy - let me know if you need any more info.

Another good source of info for UW digital is www.digitaldiver.net

Lots of nice pics there, John. Congratulations! Did you need to manipulate them in your computer much?

Thanks John. Yes I did manipulate them (cropping etc). On the UK pics I used Photoshop 7 to liven them up a bit due to the crap vis. Having said that, most of the others were just cropped a bit. Good point about digital is that not only can you bin the bad ones but also tidy up the average ones via software. An external strobe is also a must if you want to get some better shots. Whilst the internal flash is OK, I have found it not to be much use beyond a foot from the target.

When you see those fantastic pics from the professionals - they are actually a combination of good pic and excellent manipulation via software (I await the flames !!)

Great Piccies Kirky.  Some of those blue water really did look very good.

Couldn't access the UK Dives pages tho - is there a problem with the site?  Would really like to see how those come out.

Must say I was sorely tempted by the Olly 5050 and housing recently but went for twins instead - still, there's still time to buy a camera - if only I could get the cash..............

..any girlies out there need a male escort???

Thanks Tim. I think the fault is now fixed. By the way the Porth Diana pics are the best of a bad job given the zero vis !!!

Might have been in the last 2 hours. I`ve re-uploaded and checked it out via my browser and it works OK. This is typical for me - a little knowledge but dangerous !!!
