Wanted Eclipse or Wing System for Travel

I bought a full set about a month ago.... really nice set. I was worried that a 40lb wing would be overkill for a single. But due to the cut/shape of the wing its superb. I paid £320 for it second hand but in superb condition. Good luck with your search, best be prepared to jump on one when it comes up. They do come up time to time, but they hold there value.
This thread has been taken from another as I apparently (inadvertantly) was guilty of a hijack (So sorry for that - Had a "senior moment!)
I want to buy a Halcyon Eclipse full rig and if that comes with the newer cinch system so much the better. The same applies to any additions such as weight and trim weight pocets etc.

What does the entire rig weigh without the weights attached? I'm looking for something similar to this but it's not easy to find out such details. And as I would be travelling with it the dry weight is important.

Sounds like it is probably too heavy for my requirements then. What with airlines lowering baggage allowances continually it is becoming more and more important to save weight in the kit you carry but then have to add weight to a belt or whatever when you dive. Ballache or what!

Mine comes in at 6kg - however this drops to 2kg when I swop the SS back plate for the ally one and the STA for the 2 small Ally ones.
Aha, now your talking. 2kg is well within a weight budget!
So SS for UK diving and (how easily?) swap for ali when travelling.
Is it swapped over easily?

Hence I bought the ally plate as well - comes in same sort of weight as a BCD and my Buddy Travel wing then :)
Is it a quick and easy process to swap them over without having to rerig the entire setup?

Yep - undo 2 thumb screws, swop over plate and STA, do back up 2 screws - have a harness on each ready.

So you need 2 harnesses? One rigged with ali and one with SS?
Halcyon stuff is expensive enough as it is without having to have an extra harness in addition lol.
it doesn't have to be a Halcyon harness or even the plate. Any plate or standard one piece harness will fit.

Cheers, John
Halcyon Harness webbing is £19.00. You can pick up the hardware for a few quid more...."Standard" webbing probably about £5 max.....

not really going to break the bank in the scheme of things....
Ok, sorry. Showing my ignorance on the subject.
In which case with the weighting issue sorted as to using the Halcyon for travelling as well as UK, this may well be the direction I head in.
All I need to do now then is find someone selling an Eclipse set up at a reasonable price and in good condition or bite the bullet and go for new.
If anyone hears of one on the market please show them in my direction!

Thanks' very much for your input guys. Very much appreciated.

Now if it is definately a Halcyon rig you want then fair enough, but Frog, Hollis, OMS, IST and probably a few others all do the same rig as the Eclipse, all for varying amounts of money. I had the Frog Indigo for a couple of years and it was superb, Ive also dive a Hollis single wing and that seemed the same quality as my Frog.

I'm still open minded and in no rush so I will see what comes along but atm the Halcyon Eclipse is ticking all the right boxes. If the right (used) rig comes along in the right condition and for reasonable as opposed to stupid money then I will have a good look. If it doesn't then I will have to decide which to buy new.
The main issue is that the days of walking into a dive shop and trying on various options appears to be a thing of the past. Not many LDS's, it seems, hold stock of anything anymore!

Yes true, however with a wing backplate setup like the Eclipse they are a one size fits all so need to be correctly setup. Therefore not ideally suited for shop sales as they need time and knowledge to get them setup right.
Can I ask how much travelling are you going to be doing ?
Can I ask how much travelling are you going to be doing ?
I take at least two dive holidays (mostly liveaboard) per year.
Which is why I am, after all this time messing about with different BCD's, looking at a system I can change about whilst still diving the same rig.
IE SS BP for UK diving and then ali for travelling.
And the Eclipse, whilst not the cheapest option seems to tick the boxes.
In that case I think you are making it more complicated than it needs to be, I take my SS plate on holidays with me and I don't pack light. OK I don't get in the 20kg bracket as I also have a weighty bag, some airlines will allow 25kg and I have often been a few kilos over than and not been charged.

I recommended the DIRzone single set up on your other thread, which also includes the single tank adapter, knife etc. So really worth looking at.
