have you swapped training agencies ?

I fly under the HSE code because of work.

I trained the BSAC way when i joint my local club
then

Crossed over to the SAA, when i got a branch involved within our club.

BUT I WILL DIVE WITH ANYONE what ever agencies they have been with, to me it's the person that makes the diver NOT the agency.

Well I put others although I started PADI, I'm a member of a BSAC branch - doing my Dive Leader stuff - and have quals from SDI/TDI.  As you said Andy - I'll dive with anybody from any agency - as long as they want to get wet, thats all that matters.

Hi

You don't mention GUE and so I haven't voted. I also still train with BSAC and also have done TDI nitrox blending. I believe it is quite rare now to find divers who have ONLY trained under one banner, those that progress into more technical stuff anyway.

But is the intention of your poll to find out whether we have crossed over to other agencies or whether we are willing to dive with trainees of a different agency from ours?

Kindest Regards

Hi WL,

I'm just intrested to what agency people are diving with. Not fussed about tekkie agencies, as everyone does there own thing.

Basically i think the likes of TDI etc are advanced training agencies and not basic when first starting to learn to dive.

Ditto,

Came up the PADI route (up to DM - but binned it) and then went over to TDI.

I will dive with anyone who is safe underwater and has their shit together.

Hey WL, you could, like the rest of us with no 'home' in the above list, have voted 'Other'

What? and be in the pot with us strokes

TDI for me so I put other. Likewise will dive with any one who is not a nutter. Mind you I have dived with a few nutters so probably I would dive with anyone.

As long as they have a pony or a twin set that is

TDI too, although I'll do any course which looks good.  That'll be "Others" then...

I'm not fussed who I dive with - obvious nutters being the exception.:D

I would love to meet the bloke. Great thing is if I kill him underwater, every one will blame it in the CCR and I will get away with it

Nearly dived with him on the Moldavia but it was blown out. We had a few set too's on handbag.net after that he refused all my invites.

I have this image of him in my mind as a real ale drinking BSAC barnical encruseted dive biggot of about 50.

Sad thing is he obviously has a huge knoladge of diving but his ego gets in the way of his being able to pass on that knoladge to others.

Never met the bloke, I assume he is from darn sarf-----Mark, I sincerely hope you are not infering real ale appreciation as being anything less than a fine way to spend an evening.
Vic always has a direct clear and incisive way of presenting a point of view, I have an image of a wiry fit looking whippet of a guy with a gimlet eye and a clinical mind.

Or does anyone know different?

Cheers, Malcolm.

<font color='#728FCE'>I agree with Andy, I'm BSAC, PADI, TDI, IAHD and instruct in all of them. I don't really care as long as  I can get underwater. Sometimes that just means teaching in Capenwray. Can we have a multi vote option on the poll or is that not what this about.

Time underwater is never time wasted!

Started with the SAA nearly five years ago, and wouldn't look to change. I like the club environment without all the politics and the DO and other instructors in the club are great. Hell of a lot cheaper than the others as well!

IIRC, Vic works in IT, that tends to have a certain image of easy going people who work at their own pace because they hold all the cards, doesn't seem to go with his love of , ahem...debate

Back to topic, started BSAC and still with it, but also encompassing TDI, plus RYA PB2 & VHF.
I'm quite happy learning other agency styles etc, and would do courses purely for interest and to broaden my knowledge, for example I'm enrollin (or trying to) on the RYA Day Skipper Theory course run at my local college, lotsa fun playing with charts and dividers etc

So guess I'm BSAC + Others

Started NAUI in mozambique with the world's worst instructor (great guy though), since done PADI, TDI and IANTD. Have now joined local BSAC club as have finally settled in one place for the time being. Voted others, dive virtually exclusively with my girlfriend but would dive with any competent diver from any agency on the days she's not around.

It's worth doing this course just to tell your classmates what an A flag means

When I did mine, the mixture was quite interesting, those who had lots of practical experience, but did not know how to plan etc, to those who had bought a boat, and then thought about learning how to use it...

I've met Vic.

His self-description of "the smashed hippy" is pretty accurate.. I confess he looks nothing like I'd have imagined from his posts.

Currently PADI assistant instructor, Emergency First Responder instructor, TDI advanced nitrox, CMAS *** diver, NAUI diver ...

Don't 'dive' with any of them - dive with my regular buddy set and we have our own rules / configurations etc which are a bastardisation of all of the above. Learned my lesson now of only showing the card required for the dive ahead (normally advanced open water - saves me getting lumbered with the usual "oh great, an assistant instructor - we're a bit short today so do you think you could ....." line).

Thats the first thing I ever heard from a PADI instructor on holiday.

So much for professionals
