Obviously Gary (Warmwaterdiver) has done this a few times and I believe it's been done before I joined too.

It's a great way of raising a few quid.

I can get the likes of T-shirts etc sorted for a cheap price and I have friends who have large amounts of embroidering done so could piggy back on their volume discounts. I might even be able to get baselayers embroidered with YD too. I'm happy enough for anyone else to do it though :)

As Gary has only recently done this it needs to be left for a few weeks/months before going again.

Any idea's on what should be included so we get a decent list together.

T-shirts
Polo shirts
Hoodies
Fleeces
Hats (Baseball/beanie)
Baselayers (possibly)

If I do end up with this task, I'll drop Gary a line and get his advice on how the hell to manage it all.

I'd say all the above in time, maybe one or two items at a time? Base layers sound different and interesting. Could you do these first as i'm ready for a new set

I think the normal YD branded stuff should be left until quite a bit later on as I'm sure most people who want something have got something at the mo...

I'm happy to do my Trimix designs. They went well last time

Thought about changing the image slightly though and having YD logo on there somewhere... Perhaps different text?

Trimix - YD / RNLI / Saving lives!

Or something along those lines. Not really thought it through.

and I also did some "How's my diving" stickers (like you get on the back of Vans "How's my driving") which I'll dig out an image of...

I think they're different enough to what's been about this year that there could be some interest? Maybe in a few months when we're into summer a bit more?

What do you think?

I have to agree about the "normal" YD stuff, lets leave that for a bit and let Gary bask in the glory and also let YDers damage/ lose there current stuff and need replacements

The YD RNLI trimix sounds like a great slogan, we would need the RNLI to pass any artwork before we could use it wilbo tells me but i hope it wouldn't be a problem!

I'm ready for some more "How's My Diving" stickers so i would imagine others are too, can you get a quote and play with margins?
I like them and I think they are better than Diving/YD/saving lives.

I don't drink though so how about Diving / Pies / Birds  more befitting the fat UK diver profile.

Yeah, Gary's done a fantastic job this year!

Even if they didn't pass the artwork I wonder whether we can just use normal text?

We can have a bit of a brain storm and see what three things we could offer as options for Trimix. Obviously the few different types the cheaper we can get them done. Could always offer special request ones for people for a premium though! :)

I can start finding out prices for stickers and see what sort of deals I can find for t-shirts.

Here's the other design...

Which obviously we can alter to having yorkshire-divers.com on there instead :)

Hehehehe, pies :) So appropriate! :)
I'd have thought Diving/curry/beer would work for a few too :D

Do what the Dive-logs guy did, ask for as many YD opinions as possible, then do a poll for the best 2 ladies and best 2 mens designs to go to press?

Arfie
Yeah, is a good idea doing a poll. Will have to see what the costs vs number of votes, I guess!

Here's a more "YD'd up" version of the t-shirt design. Can obviously change the words to whatever is considered best.

Any other suggestions to additions / changes to the overall design / text?

Can do an open forum thread and get people to make suggestions if we're happy with the overal design.

Any suggestions to start the ball rolling for the 3 "trimix ingredients"

Divng / Beer / Girls
Diving / Chocolate / Boys
Diving / Chimps / Puddles :D
Diving / Pies / Birds
Diving / Curry / Beer
Diving / YD / RNLI

is there a minimum run for these, or are they screen printed, and therefore almost 'on demand'?
They look good.

Could we get away with them as cylinder stickers? :)

The last lot I did were done in two different ways...

The first few testers were done with a vinyl that they printed out and then pressed on. These could provide higher definition of finer detail and would mean that more varieties of designs could be done as they are applied manually. This is better for smaller runs.

The bulk of them were done using screen print. They were pretty good still and seem to wear well. The production is easier for larger runs of the same design as screens need to be set up for each colour required for each different design. Also if different T-shirt colours (other than black) were required another screen would be needed for design background colour which also increases set up cost.

Don't know how much prices would be at the moment.

I think I got a few done as cylinder stickers last time... Not sure whether it would cause problems getting fills at some places though (I'm sure Gildenburgh would refuse as they're miserable awkward buggers!)

I like it. ;)
Are we bothering with an RNLI logo on the clothing?

If so do we have any answer from them as regards what's acceptable?

If not, then I'll start making serious enquiries about polo and t-shirts to get started.

SCUBEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Any news on if I can use the RNLI logo on the shirts? Something like YD supporting RNLI. It would probably increase the embroidery costs slightly but would show actual support for RNLI for anyone wearing them.

If not, they'll just be the same as the ones WWD got done.

Arfie
OK......

We can't put the RNLI logo on something we then sell on because it is too complicated re: VAT, and there is a complication that it cuts across what their manufacturing arm does. i have spoken to Val at the RNLI about this.

When I mentioned aobut the stickers last year, I just got a sort of quizzical silence and she said it was porbably agreed because is was low cost, and not in any 'competition' with their manufacturing business.

So...

Whilst we can get stuff (hopefully from willing suppliers at a reduced cost) and get YD members to buy in support of the RNLI, we can't use the logo.

We can't even get permission to use the logo on the calendar at the moment, although i am trying to work out a wya of getting a lifeboat piccy into it.

Arfie - I have been sitting in the car for a couple of hours today, and a thought came to mind, but this is going to depend on getting a reliable supplier.

Could we do a regular order of a range of good? For example, at the moment, we have a zillion people who want poloshirts, but how about if we said that each month, or two months, or 3 months, we would put an order to a company of, say, the required number of polos, beenies, fleeces, or whatever else they can supply?

We could have a thread that gets closed when the order goes in, and a new one begun. It may take some commitment, but if it gets too much, then we can review it - maybe spread the load around. Having a regular order may make more orders, but they may be more manageable.

What do you all think?

Well done, Arfie for getting the clothing thing going :)

On a compeltely didfferent matter, quite a few people have donated directly to the RNLI, which means we lose track of what has been raised by YD. Earlier in the year, we mentioned about using a Just Giving page, but the costs seemed to make it less worthwhile. However, with people simply handing money in to their nearest RNLI place, they lose out on the gift aid.

Before I check out with Val that they are OK (I assume they must be, because HP is using just giving), do we all think that a JG page would be a better idea? I can still make payments into the bank account, but the JG goes straight there, and the RNLI get notification, i think.

One of the things that worries me though is some numpty paying for their poloshirt that way, which aould leave us in a tricky spot.

Right, as I've always said, if using the logo is an issue, we just forget it, so it's forgotten and shell never be mentioned by me again :)

I will probably be using my mates firm for the clothing Cricket, Rugby, Running, Hockey, Golf and Baselayers from Pro4Sport Ltd the way part of his firm works is that they do white label websites for sports clubs and the members order from them and a cut goes to the club. I am speaking to pro4sport about a YD site where YD could get a cut from all baselayers and other sports gear, but could they add Polo Shirts, fleeces, hoodies, caps etc with the funds going to the charity, but we need to see how that would work, it gets complicated if they are collecting the money. But if they can get around it by just taking and collating the orders and us collecting the money, then ordering would be come easier (for us).

My personal thoughts though are that while regular ordering could be a good thing, I wonder if more people order when a frenzy is generated by a limited run?

I've discussed this with Jay before and I know he's been looking at getting a YD clothing line sorted himself, so it may be a non started for us as a charity thing, but you never know.

Justgiving I think is a good idea, while some people don't like it, some do and if it gives them the choice, then that's great. I don't like the charges, but I like the convenience so I tend to pay to JG causes as I can do it with my card at my laptop without moving my fat ass.

As for the money for the clothing, I have a dormant bank account (with a massive £2.15 balance :) which I'll use for the clothing, I'll pay for the shirts, postage materials and postage costs from that account and you can have the statements for it once done, so we have a paper trail of what's come in and gone out! I will only accept cheques/bank transfers to keep it simpler. While I like Paypal, I don't want them taking a cut too.
